ABOUT SOUND THERAPY
Sound therapy is a form of sound and vibrational healing. Various sound healing instruments are usually used, such as singing bowls, gongs, chimes, tuning fork, drums, etc. The melodies and vibrations emitted from these instruments have an effect on brain-wave frequencies, drifting from from beta (awake and alert) to theta (deep meditation and light sleep), and even to delta (healing) waves in a short period of time.
Some of the benefits of sound therapy are:
-
Quieten a busy mind, easing into a peaceful and uplifting state of being
-
Facilitate deep body & mental relaxation
-
Reduce stress and anxiety
-
Enhance sleep quality
-
Improve mental and emotional stability
-
Increase self awareness and self love
-
Alleviate body pain, tensions and energy blockages
-
Aid concentration, memory and immunity
* Sound therapy is a complementary therapy and should work alongside with prescribed medicine (if any). If you have a heart pacemaker, metal implants, or cancer, please consult your doctor before attending any sound therapy session.
ABOUT SHANTI IN SOUND
Vicky | balancing mind and body amid busy corporate life
My encounter with singing bowl was accidental. In 2018, I made a solo trip to Nepal for adventure and self-discovery. I joined a 7-day yoga and meditation retreat, and came across teachings about mindful living, spirituality, self-healing and sound therapy there.
Feeling inspired and curious to know more, I read and followed more teachings after returning to Hong Kong and was particularly drawn to singing bowl sound healing. I took a 30-hour singing bowl practitioner training in 2019 and have clocked over 40 hours of practical sessions as of today. My next goals are to pursue an advanced level sound therapy training in Nepal, and Tuning Fork practitioner training.
Shanti in Sound started in early 2020 as a side passion project outside my corporate job. I want to use singing bowl as a medium to inspire people to look after their mind, body and spiritual wellbeing, and to find peace, joy and serenity amid their hustle and bustle city lives.
Outside Shanti in Sound, I enjoy yoga, hiking, kayaking, scuba diving, skiing, and is Magnified Healing Phase 1, Usui Reiki and Taoist Qigong practitioner.
